It is reported at|Dur'ban that Lard Kitchener will deport the bulk of civilian burghers as they hamper British operations. General Abel Erasmus, with 2000 men, and 12,000 cattle, and a thousand waggons, is at Olifant's River, in the Middlesburg district. He is in possession of £150,000, and is paying burghers 5s a day. Botha has formed a Republic at Roosenkal, westward of Lydnnburg, De la Rey commands a thousand Boers between Vrybury and the Fourteen Streams.
