SCRIP CERTIFICATES.

A conference was held last week between the members of the Auckland Brokers Association and the legal managers of mining companies, to consider the question of issuing scrip certificates. The Chairman of the Association expressed pleasure at seeing so many legal managers present. He said thero was a groat insecurity in dealing with shares 'to go South, owing.to th-5 want of tho scrip. Sometimes when the transfer returned from the South there were no shares on the book, although they were there when the transfers wero sent aw.ay. The brokers felt that for the protection of themselves and the public scrip should be issued. Tho object of the conference was to soe what could be done in order to obtain greater security.-,—Mr F. Hull, as tho mover of the resolution calling tho conference, pointed out that at present thore was no 'cheek upon overselling. He had' seen within the last few days a simple form of scrip certificates issued by Mr W. B. Morrison in the Russell Gfoldihining Company.-rSeveral other gentleman spoke, the general feeling being in favor of the certificates.
