Scene I.—Argyle street, Glasgow. Mrs Johnston meets lier.neigh.bor, Mrs ■ Tonison, some distance from home. Mrs J.: "Losli nic, woman, yer far frae hanie the day !" Mrs T.: " Ay! I was just yont at Lard's. He keeps rale quid ham. Oor John, ye ken, likes a bit giiid ham, and is ay yammerin' aboot the ham bein' ower fat and p,wer saut !'- Mrs J. : " Oor Tain's the same way. There's nae pleasin' o' him wi' his. ham. Faith, I'll hae to gieLard atrial!" Scene ll.—Adam Lard's, licensed grocer. Enter Mrs Johnston. Mrs J.: " Gies a pund o' ye.r ham." Lard': " "What kind wad ye like." Mrs J.: " Oh, just the kirid that Mrs Tomson gets!" ' " , Lard: "A' richt! Whaur's yev. bpttle?" . . . ' '- Curtain! , ■ . - -
