Railwaymen’s Demand For Wage Increase PA AUCKLAND, Dec. 13. By 2025 votes to 348, members of the combined second division railway organisations of the Auckland district have decided to cease work at midnight next Monday unless the Government by that time has met the claims for an increase in the basic wage rates now in the hands of the national officers of the combined executives. The unions involved are the Amalgamated Society of Railway. Servants, the Engine Drivers Firemen and Cleaners’ Association, and the Railway Tradesmen’s Association, which have a total of five branches in the Auckland metropolitan area. Secret ballots have been held by all these branches.
