PAKISTAN HOCKEY TEAM’S VISIT
There will be fejoicing among followers of hockey in New Zealand if the New Zealand Hockey Association s invitation to the Pakistan Hockey Federation to send a team to New Zealand in 1951 is accepted. It was at firsft intended to arrange a tour by a Pakistan services team, but because of the present world situation, the New Zealand association was advised that it would be impossible to spare members of the forces for the suggested tour. Pakistan reached the semi-finals of the last Olympic Games, the team being beaten by Great Britain, 2—nil. In November of this year, Pakistan sent a team to the international tournament at Barcelona. It is entering a team for the 1952 Olympic Games at Helsinki.
The federation has been in existence only since 1948, when it was founded following the partition of India. Since that time Pakistan .has lost only two international matches, one to Great Britain and one to Holland, which finished third in the Olympic Games
