Queensland declared at nine for 270 in the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria today, forcing the home side to open its innings nine minutes before lunch and then begin again after the interval. The openers, Meuleman and Howard were both dropped before scoring, but Victoria had put on 213 for the loss of four wickets at stumps. Scores: Queensland: First innings, nine for 270 declared (Mackay 111, Toovey 46; Loxton four for 47. Victoria: First innings, four for 213 (Meuleman 31, Loxton 45. Hassett not out 87).
