LOSS OF CENTURION TANK IN KOREA

NZPA—Copyright 1 SEOUL. Dec. 11. The' finding of a special court of inquiry on the loss of a secret list British Centurion tank is tonight on its way to the War Office. The court met for two days to hear how the Centurion was abandoned because of track trouble during the withdrawal from Pyongyang. The loss of the tank chilled the Bth Hussars. One officer said: “We feel the loss of the tank is a disgrace to the squadron. We tried hard to save her, but it was no use.” One crew member who rode to safety on a sister tank said: “ It was like leaving one of. our own blokes there.” The tank commander’s bitterness over the loss was more painful the next day when he flew over the abandoned Centurion in a spotter plane to direct rocket-firing jets to complete its destruction.
