PLUNKET SHIELD

Otago Team Announced

The Otago team to meet Canterbury in the Plunket Shield cricket match at Christchurch on December 22, 23, 25 and 26, and Auckland at Auckland on December 29, 30, January 1 and 2, was announced last night by the selectors— Messrs A. N. Lawson, S. F. Duncan and L. D. Smith. Twelve players have been chosen, tne twelfth man to be named from them later The only newcomer to Shield cricket is F. W. Stanley, the young Kaikorai fast-medium paced bowler, who has achieved considerable success in the club games and bowled, well for Otago In the match against Southland at the weekWith the exception of D. J. Blakely and D. S. St. John, all the others were members of the Otago team last season, ana both St.- John and Blakely have, previously played for Otago in Plunket Shield cricket. The team is:— L. D. Smith (Albion-YMCA), captain. D. J. Blakely (Maniototo). S. N. McGregor (Grange). G. H. Mills (High School Old Boys). A. W. Moir (Grange). G. VV. F. Overton (Southland). A. W. Roberts (Vincent). D. S. St. John (High School Old Boys). F. W. Stanley (Kaikorai). B. Sutcliffe (Kaikorai). E. A. Watson (Albion-YMCA). L. A. Watt (Kaikorai). R. T. Hunt (University) was not available.
