MR ATTLEE IN OTTAWA
Talks With Canadian Cabinet NZPA—Copyright
Rec. 8.20 p.m. OTTAWA, Dec. 9. Mr Attlee arrived in Ottawa by air today and was greeted by the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr Louis St. Laurent. Mr Attlee consulted the Canadian Cabinet this ‘afternoon in what was substantially an extension of his talks with President Truman. Officials said Canadian policy on the Korean issue is well in line with '
British; namely, the exclusion of the atom bomb in Korea and all possible efforts to negotiate with the Chinese at a suitable time. Mr St. Laurent said after the conference with Mr Attlee: “ The information I have is that the United Nations troops are not going to be driven out of Korea.” He said'Cabinet had a very satisfactory interview with Mr Attlee. “All of us feel quite comforted by the information which he and the Chief of the Imperial General Staff, Field Marshal Slim, were able to give us as .to’ their talk* with President Truman,” he said.
