SHELLED BY COMMUNISTS
British Tug In Chinese Waters NZPA—Copyright Rec. 8 p..m HONGKONG. Dec. 9. The Australian captain and two Chinese crew members were wounded when two shells from the Communistoccupied Ladrone Islands, south-west of Hongkong, hit the British tug Allegiance this mprning. The shells landed in the wheelhouse. The tug reached Hongkong tonight after a circuitous course through rough seas to avoid further interference.
Captain R. C. Thomas, of Melbourne, suffered injuries to his ribs. He said the Communists fired about five small shells without warning when the tug was two miles off shore. The tug brought to Hongkong 23 survivors of the Philippines freighter, Joseph S., which foundered off the South China coast'.yesterday.
