WOMAN SAVED FROM DROWNING

PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 10. A middle-aged woman was rescued from the Hutt River about 1 p.m. on Saturday. She had fallen from the old wooden bridge. Her rescuer was Mr Oliver Sinton Walton, of Waterloo road, Lower Hutt. He plunged into the river before the woman had been swept downstream 100 yards. A few minutes later, Lower Hutt fire brigadesmen were applying artificial respira-. tion with their portable equipment. The woman was then rushed to the Hutt Hospital. Later, she was transferred to Wellington. Her condition last night was reported as satisfactory.
