Three Local Softball Players To Represent New Zealand Next Year
For the first time for many years, North Otago has gained New Zealand representative honours in sporting teams. Three local women’s softball players, Misses N. Nuttall (Pirata), L. Burke (Pirata) and P. Campbell (Kiwi No. 1), have been selected to represent the Dominion against the touring Australian women’s softball team at Invercargill on January 27. Six local players took part in trials at Christchurch on Saturday. Miss Nuttall will play at first base, Miss Burke at left outfield, and Miss Campbell at right outfield. Competing in the trials. Miss Burke was applauded several times for her catching, Miss Campbell gave an excellent display of backing up, while Miss Nuttall gave a faultless display.
