RUNAWAY HORSE FLOAT

One man was killed and five people including a baby, were critically injured when a float carrying two racehorses to the Kembla Grange meeting became out of control on the steep Bulli Pass road, which leads from a high escarpment down to a coastal strip 25 miles south of Sydney. The man was killed and the others injured in jumping from the vehicle as it careered downhill. Two other passengers escaped with bruises and cuts. Finally, the vehicle, travelling at terrific speed, jumped a bank and tore through a wooden house, t shearing half the building away. Ambulance men found the injured strewn over half a mile. The horses escaped with a shaking.
