Substantial Increase

At the Beaumont meeting the totaUsator handled £12.951 10s, induding £i242 on the doubles, an increase of £2982 on the £9969 invested last season, when the meeting was held over the Easter weekend The doubles figures were £360 10s more San the £BBI 10s handled on that machine on the first day last season. The successful combination of the doubles machine, Urbino and Don’t Listen, returned their supporters £3l 2s for £l. Lilting and Silver Standard were withdraw* from the first leg of the double the Wetherstones Handicap, and of the 2484 doubles tickets taken out, 403 were on Urbino, the winner. The favourite was Flying Trixie, who carried 499 tickets on her chance. Urbino was second favourite and then came Gay John 374, Faustina 270, Highthorne 259. Silver Clipper 253 Vain Lad 133, The Saint 115, Our Girl 113 and R< Therf 3 were 6 no scratchings from the Junction High-weight Handicap, the second leg and all of the 403 tickets on Urbino were reinvested.
