Stable’s Four Successes At Beaumont Meeting
BENEVOLUS CHIEF WINNER By the Sporting Editor The feature of the racing on the first day of the Beaumont Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday was the success that atteijded horses from W. E. Hazlett’s stable at Invercargill, no fewer than four of them being winners and one a runner-up. Making his first appearance in open company, Benevolus won the Summer Handicap in a manner that suggested further wins before long.
Although some of the fields were small and the attendance did not seem quite up to the average, the totalisator returns showed a substantial increase. The racing was interesting throughout and the meeting was well run.
Overhead conditions were fine but a heavy wind blew for most of the day; The track was in good order.
