MUSIC IN NEW ZEALAND
Although it was difficult to say why New Zealand had produced so many good musicians, considering the size of its population, the climate and general environment were probably potent factors, said Mr Frederick Moore, a fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, who has just completed an examination tour of New Zealand. Mr Moore, in an interview, said there were several New Zealanders in high teaching positions in the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music. Character was the foundation for the highest success in music, he added. Without character even the most talented pupil could not reach the heights.
