Sylvia Mines Consolidated, Limited p A AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. The terms of an option given to the Electrolytic Zinc Co of Australasia, ltd., over the interests of Sylvia Mines Consolidated. Ltd., in the 15 square miles of sulphide ore deposits in the Tararua-Puhoi-Thames area were approved by shareholders of the latter company at the annual meeting in Auckland this week. When tlie Sylvia Company completes the reopening of the low levels of the Monowai mine at Waiomu, the Electrolytic Zinc Company will send technical staff from Australia for a preliminary survey. If curcumstances warrant this will be followed by a full-scale exploratory and testing programme with a view to subsequent large-scale mining operations for the extraction of the copper, lead and zinc contents of the ore in addition to the gold and silver contents. Sylvia Mines Consolidated, Ltd., was formed in 1942 to acquire the Sylvia Mine at Tararua and to carry out deep-level development. The company purchased the assets of Sylvia Gold, Silver and Base Metal Mines (NZ)) and purchased interests from Sylvia Mines Development. Ltd.
