VISITING LECTURESHIP
Nuffield Foundation Award
To Scientist PA NELSON, Dec. 8. Dr H. O. Askew, of the Cawthron Institute has been awarded a visiting lectureship by the Nuffield Foundation. The grant has been made to enable him to visit the United Kingdom in order to make personal contacts with scientists in his own field of work and to secure the latest information concerning techniques and analytical methods for plant chemical investigations. The purpose of the lectureships is to promote the interchange of scientists between Great Britain and the Dominions.
Several visiting lecturers have come to New Zealand under this scheme, and now a New Zealander is going to Great Britain. It is a considerable honour to be awarded a lectureship and the fact that Dr Askew has been selected indicates that he is well known throughout the scientific world for his work in plant chemistry. Dr Askew is head of the biochemical department at the Cawthron Institute.
