NO DIRECT ACTION
Instructions Of National
Officers Industrial Correspondent WELLINGTON, Dec. 8.
The national president of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, Mr J. A. Barton, and the national secretary, Mr J. S. Berry, issued instructions tonight to all branches to refrain in th‘e meantime from taking direct action in protest against the recent wage increase. Branches of the society in many parts of the country have been passing militant resolutions on the wage decision of the Railway's Industrial Tribunal. The national officers have pointed out that if the Court of Arbitration grants any increase by way of a general order to workers under awards, that increase will automatically be applied by the Railways Tribunal to railwaymen.
