Chiang In Favour Of Nationalist Invasion Of Chinese Mainland
NZPA—Copyright Rec. 11.40 p.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 7. Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek said today that he favoured the invasion of the Chinese mainland by his Nationalist forces on Formosa “with co-ordin-ated action from United States naval and air forces.” Chiang was replying to a series of questions asked by Robert Mont-
gomery, the film actor and radio com* mentator, who broadcast the answer* over a nation-wide network. Chiang said that such an invasion by his troops would meet with concerted response from 1,500,000 guer* rillas in China. It would also rally many troops now under Communist control. “ This will shake the foundations of the Peking regime and then the situation in Korea will be basically altered.”
