TWO SEATS GAINED
Labour Representation On Hospital Board
Labour showed a gain of two seats, giving it three in all, on the Hospital Board. Five sitting members, including Dr D. G. McMillan (Labour), were returned. One previous Citizens’ member, Mrs Ross, did not seek reelection and her place was filled by a Labour candidate, while Mr A.-Steel, a member of the board for the past 17 years lost his seat. The two sitting members, Dr N. H. North and Miss M. L. Roberts, who indicated that they would stand as Independent candidates but were later placed on the Citizens’ ticket, were both returned. Of the city and West Harbour members of the board, four now represent the
Citizens’. ticket and three Labour.
