Newly-built House Carried Down Slope

PA AUCKLAND, Nov. 7. Heavy rain undermined earth which swept the home of a young married couple, Mr and Mrs J. McMurtrie, nearly 20 feet down a slope at Titirangi yesterdav. Mr McMurtrie had spent his weekends for 18 months building the house, which he finished four weeks ago. Mrs McMurtrie was caring for her baby about 5 o’clock in the afternoon. The rain had stopped, but as she looked out the back door she saw a tree in the garden moving slowly down tha hill. She ran with the baby" to a neighbouring house. Slowly the hillside moved behind the house and slid down the slope. Mr McMurtrie arrived home 15 minutes later to find his house perched crazily on the hillside with the front windows pointing downwards at an angle of about 60 degrees.
