NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
Softball Players’ Response CHAMPIONSHIPS AT DUNEDIN “ X felt certain that once softball players realised the seriousness of. the situation with regard to the successful holding of the national tournament in Dunedin next January they would rally round with offers of assistance, and the response made has justified my optimism,” stated the chairman, Mr T ‘Allen, at this week’s meeting of the Otago Men’s Softball Association. Arrangements were made for the ap-6 pointing of conveners of the various committees which will organise the tournament. v An invitation from the Southland association to send a representative team to Invercargill on December 9 to play for the H. N. Bates Shield was accepted. It was decided that only those players who would be available to play in the national tournament in January would be eligible for selection. In reply to a challenge from Southland for the Jefferies Cup it was decided that the challenge be accepted and that the match be played in Dunedin on the last Saturday in February. The appointment of managers and coaches was held over until the next meeting. G. C. Nelson was granted a, transfer from the Wakari Club to the Mornington Club.
