OBITUARY
Mrs W. H. Field
The death occurred in Wellington last week of Mrs Isabel Jane Field, widow of Mr William H. Field, who was for more than 30 years member of Parliament for Otaki. Mrs Field was a daughter of the late Mr William Matthew Hodgkins, of Dunedin, well-known in the world of art in the early days, when culture was largely centred in Otago. He bequeathed that talent to his daughters, Mrs Field and Frances Hodgkins, the latter becoming internationally famous within the last quarter-century. Mrs Field, who was also a brilliant artist, painted up to the time of the outbreak of World War I. She did no more after that, but nevertheless maintained her interest in art.
