OPEN STROKE EVENT
Waitikiri Golf Club
GALLOWAY AND WOON LEAD PA CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 2. James Galloway (Whangarei) and D. L. Woon led after the first two rounds in the open stroke event conducted by the Waitikiri Golf Club today, each with a total of 147. Galloway led after the first round with a total of 71—two strokes better than scratch—from R. H. Glading, the Christchurch Club professional, who returned a 72. Woon’s morning round. was 77. He improved this afternoon in the second round with a 70, three strokes better than the scratch score for the course. After two rounds, Galloway, the holder of the New Zealand Open title, and Woon were four strokes ahead of the next competitor, Glading. who returned a 79 in the second round.
