GERMAN PARTICIPATION
Western European Defence Force NO IMMEDIATE DECISION NZPA—Copyright Rec. 0.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 26. The 12-nation Atlantic Treaty Council is expected to announce the creation of a Western European Defence Force. The council will reconvene today after an eight-day recess. The Foreign Ministers kept silent about the details of the decisions they are expected to make, but it is known that no plans calling for the integration of German units in the projected European force will be announced today. It is understood that the idea of an immediate decision on German participation, as advocated by the United States Secretary of State. Mr Dean Acheson, was dropped as the result of a super-secret talk among the Foreign Defence Ministers of the Big Three in New York last week. Informed sources said Mr Acheson yielded to French insistence that any immediate decision on German participation would touch off violent reaction in France, culminating, perhaps, in another Ministerial crisis.
