UNVEILING CEREMONY

Five Forks War Memorial

The ceremony of unveiling the Five Forks war memorial took place on Sunday. Mr J. Rutherford, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, said that the erection of the memorial gates with the names of those who had made the supreme sacrifice inscribed on them, the planting of shrubs to enhance the beauty of the Centennial Hall, and the incorporation of two plaques in the school grounds had been made possible by the generosity of the community. Mr I. T. Catto, on behalf of the Oamaru RSA, congratulated the district on its war record and also on its response to all war appeals. Mr J. T. Rutherford unveiled the Roll of Honour in the hall and Mr A. D. Johnston unveiled a plaque in the school grounds. Mr R. S. Rutherford unveiled the memorial gates.
