Tooheys’ Breweries
An increase of £6772 to £156,879 in net profit is shown in the accounts of Tooheys, Ltd., brewers, Sydney, for the year ended July 31. The result is the company’s best since 1947, whom £158,973 was earned. The unchanged dividend of 8 per cent, requires £138.600, and £50,000 is placed to reserve. The usual appropriation of £SOOO is made to the staff fund, leaving a carry-forward of £2462, against £39,183 brought in. Gross profit is £488.855 higher at £2,940,785, and expenses, including taxation, amount to £2,783,906, against £2,301,823 in 1949. Last week the company announced an issue of 433.125 shares of 16s at a premium of 10s in the proportion of one for five held.
