Pilots Not Held At Fault
NZPA—Reuter—Copyright Rec. 8 p.m. TOKIO, Sept. 25. American Mustang pilots who attacked British troops near Songju are not being held at fault, said, a spokesman at Taegu today. Preliminary investigations revealed that “Disaster Hill” had been cleared as a target for fighter bombers. American pilots bombed the troops after ground controllers had radioed that there were no British troops at this point, but Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders were there, having thrown the Communists off the hill during a grim morning fight. An observation plane gave a “ green light ” for the attack from the American ground control unit in the British sector. There also was confusion about the colour of the day identification panels.
