LOAN LIKELY
Caledonian Ground MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS It is likely that the ratepayers of Dunedin will be called upon in due course to vote upon a proposal to sanction a large loan for the improvement of city reserves. ' it is understood that a sum of £50,000 is to be expended on rebuilding the grandstand at Ground, the improvement of the ground proper, and other works' now under consideration by the committee, to which Cr Jolly referred at the council meeting last night. It has been pointed out frequently at meetings of the City Council during the year that the financial provision for the Reserves Department cannot be increased from the rates and that either a special rate may be necessary for reserves and other works or a special loan should be raised for the purpose.
