Gale In English Channel TWENTY-FOUR PASSENGERS INJURED Rec. 11 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 19. Twenty-four passengers were injured when the Orient liner Orcades was battered by a 70-mile-an-hour gale in the English Channel on the last day of a voyage from Sydney. Three of the injured were admitted to hospital. Furniture was torn loose, windows smashed and so much crockery was broken that for the remainder of the trip there was not enough to go round. The Orcades docked at Tilbury yesterday.
