TOURNAMENT CONTINUES
Hockey At Christchurch PA CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 31. The Canterbury Hockey Association’s centennial tournament was continued today, when the third round of the major tournament and the semi-finals of the minor tournament were completed. The grounds were affected by overnight rain, and matches were played in overcast weather, with little wind. The results are:— Major Tournament.—A section: Wellington 1, Canterbury A nil; Canterbury B 5, Otago B nil. B section: Auckland 3, Canterbury C nil; Otago A 2, Hawke’s Bay nil. The section winners are Wellington and Auckland, and they will play in the final tomorrow. Minor Tournament. —Semi-finals: South Canterbury 7, Ashburton 2; Wairarapa 1, Canterbury D nil. South Canterbury will play Wairarapa in the final tomorrow. In the primary schools’ match between North Otago and Otago, the decision was decided on penalties for and against. Otago was declared the winner, and will meet Wairarapa in the final.
Prefects at the Otago Girls’ High School •vill be appointed honorary junior rangers 'or Dunedin when the City Council meets >n Monday night. The girls are: Jocelyn Jarnett, Jocelyn Batts, Catherine Burton. Morva Jones, Grace Kennedy. Betty Sutherland. Helene Aitchison. Beverley Bridgman, Marjorie Fraser, Heather Gillespie, Noeline Sturmer, Patricia Thomson.
