INDELIBLE MARK MADE

History Of New Zealand PA WELLINGTON, July 20. As stateman, scholar, orator and one who had left an indelible mark on New Zealand among both Maori and European, Sir Apirana Ngata was eulogised in the Legislative Council this afternoon. A motion of regret at his death and sympathy for his relatives was moved by the Leader, Mr Poison, and seconded by Mr J. A. Hanan. Many members, particularly those who had in the past sat in the Lower House when Sir Apirana was there, added their tributes to the motion, and it was obvious that regret was felt that although he had been appointed to the Legislative Council he had not been able to take his seat in that Chamber.
