Jack Benny Hits Back At Critics Of Hollywood Morals
NZPA—Copyright Rec. 8.11 p.m. NEW YORK, May 17. _ The comedian Jack Benny today hit back at the “self-seeking politicians and professional finger-pointers” who criticised Hollywood morals. Benny said: 1. Hollywood, per capita, had more married-only-once couples and more marriage endurance records than any city of its size in the world. 2. Many a theatre wished it “could play to standing-room-only cr.owds ”
that Hollywood churches of every faith normally attracted. .- 3. Only very rarely did a Hollywood personality connected with films or radio land in prison. r 4. More effort and money were contributed by Hollywood to charities than by any single United States community.
