Two Canadian cities suffered heavy property losses earlier this month as the result of flood and fire. The photographs show (above) the municipal hospitals in Winnipeg surrounded by water after the swollen Red River had surged over the protective sandbag levees. The hospital was evacuated just before the barricades collapsed. The photograph on the right shows a section of the Canadian industrial city of Rimouski, where fire caused damage estimated at 20,000,000 dollars. The night-long blaze spread from the western section of the city and at one period threatened the centre of the city.
