TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
New delegates and Mrs Upchurch, of Hastings, were welcomed by the president. Miss Lindsay, at the monthly meeting of the Oamaru branch of the National Council of Women. It, was decided to support the request of headquarters to assist in a bring-and-buy sale at the September conference to raise funds. The Secretary was instructed to obtain a copy of a white paper. “ The Effect of the Cinema on Young Children,” for the branch to study. Miss Cowey made an appeal for volunteers to assist in the running of the proposed library service to the Oamaru Public Hospital, two members offering their services Annual Meeting Officers elected at the annual meeting were: President. Miss Lindsay: vicepresidents, Mesdames Atkinson and Durwood; secretary. Mrs Woodgate: treasurer, Mrs Bird: auditor, Mr J. Corlett; liaison officer with 1.C.W.. Mrs Corlett.
