BANK MANAGER

Mr I. S. Cantrell Retiring WELL-KNOWN IN DUNEDIN Manager of the Dunedin branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., since 1934, Mr I. S. Cantrell will retire as from July 31 this year. He will be succeeded by Mr T. E. Reynolds. at present manager of the bank's Courtenay place branch in Wellington.

Mr Cantrell was born in Dunedin in 1890 and joined the bank here in 1907. He has been closely associated with several public bodies. He has been honorary treasurer of the Dunedin Travel Club since its incorpora-

tion in 1937, he was honorary treasurer of the Dunedin and St. Kilda subzone of the Otago Patriotic Council during the war years, honorary treasurer of the Otago Centennial Association, and he is a member of the executive of Heritage. Some years ago Mr Cantrell was secretary of the Pirates’ Football Club, and he has been a member of the Otago Golf Club for a number of years. After joining the National Bank at Dunedin in 1907, Mr Cantrell became in turn accountant at Hastings in 1920, at Invercargill in 1921, and at Dunedin in 1924. Then he was audit officer at the general manager’s office in 1926. assistant manager at Auckland 1928, sub-inspector at Wellington in 1931, and manager at Dunedin from 1934 onwards. Mr Cantrell will live in retirement in Dunedin.
