CHILD DROWNED IN POND
PA HASTINGS, May 15. Found lying face downwards in a shallow pond at her home yesterday, a 21-month-old girl was drowned. She was Susan Rona Mollie Rich, a daughter of Mr and Mrs M. A. Rich, ot Havelock North. The girl and a three-year-old brother were playing near the pond, and when the boy re- - turned alone the mother found the child lying in a few inches of water. Mrs Rich applied artificial respiration •on the spot, continuing in the car while they were being taken to hospital, where an iron lung was employed for an hour and a-half.
