NOT EFFECTIVE
Legislation Against Communism ) VISITING BISHOP’S OPINION PA TIMARU, May 14. "I have little trust in legislation as a means for dealing with Communism, and I consider that the only effective way is by processes of education, economic reform, and an awakening within the trade union movement to the vital nature for them of the issues at stake,” said the Bishop of Goulburn, the Right Rev. E. H. Burgmann, last night when asked to comment on the anti-Communist legislation of the Menzies Government in Australia. “It is only those,” he added, “who live in daily contact with Communists who can effectively deal with any menace that comes from, communistic action or propaganda.”
