Boost Out Of Hacks Special to Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, May 14. Conditions were very unpleasant for the annual races at Amberley, and as a result the attendance was not so large as usual. The race track was good at the start, but gradually became worse. Disturbance was quite at home in the soft ground, and had her first Success of the season when she won the Amberley Handicap very easily. Whitley was in front from the start, with Saieda and Trident next, but at the end of a furlong Disturbance was second. She joined Whitley near the half-mile post, and led Whitley, Trident and Faithful Pal round the home turn, after which there was no further change. Elofa and Flying Control headed the rest of the field. The Starky Memorial Handicap, which was the second leg of the double, enabled Boost to leave hack company with his third win of the season. He followed Lady Guillotine all the way, with Pacific Edition and Beau Ideal handy. Love Letter was handy for over six furlongs, while Moonsail moved up gradually after a slow start. Boost had the measure of Lady Guillotine at the entrance to the straight, and won decisively. Song Girl, after losing a lot of ground early, came home fast and beat Moonsail Beau Esprit, and Pacific Edition for third.
