ANNIVERSARY OBSERVED
Florence Nightingale's Birth NATIONAL HOSPITAL SUNDAY National Hospital Sunday—the Sunday nearest the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth—was observed throughout the country yesterday. In Dunedin representatives of the medical and nursing services attended the 11 o’clock Mass in St. Joseph’s Cathedral and the evening service at Knox Church. On Saturday afternoon about 120 former nurses of the Dunedin Hospital attended a reunion held at the hospital. The guests were received by the medical superintendent, Dr J. Thomson, and the lady superintendent. Miss D. I. Brown. The acting-chair-man of the board, Mr A. Steele, who welcomed the visitors, referred to the proud record of the Dunedin Hospital and the sterling service given by those who had received their training there. Vocal solos were given by Nurses Elliffe and Ironside and Nurse Munro gave a recitation. The new wing of the home was later opened for inspection. &
