BAN ON COMMUNISM

Turkish Law To Continue

LONDON, May 11. *> President Inonu, of Turkey, in his first speech in the national election campaign said that the Government had decided to maintain its ban upon Communism. ' “Turkey,” he said, “will keep in force statutes outlawing Communism for reasons clearly known to everyone.” He said that Turkey had only two anti-democratic laws—one outlawed Communism and the other provided that religion must not interfere with State policy. Many countries also considered that parliamentary immunity was anti-democratic. He agreed with this opinion, and hoped that Turkey would abolish immunity.
