WORK ON OLD PEOPLE’S FLATS BEGUN
Yesterday, the Housing Division of the Ministry of Works started work on the blocks of flats for old people in Surrey street. The workmen have made a start on the foundations and the whole job should be completed in about eight months. Ten comfortable flats will be provided in five blocks. The department has already built two blocks of pensioners’ flats at Wakari and good progress has been made on the construction of two similar flats at Mosgiel. Tenders have been called for the construction of four units at Oamaru.
