The snow-covered peak of Mount Tasman, about a mile from the Fox Glacier, is typical of the impressive alpine and forest scenery which would become more accessible to tourists if the gaps in the Westland-Otago road over the Haast Pass were bridged. (See article and photographs on page 8).
