MARKETING OF EGGS
Independent Authority Sought
PA WELLINGTON, May 12. The National Egg Marketing Committee has asked the Minister of Marketing, Mr Holyoake, to set up an independent marketing authority for eggs. The committee, which, under the Egg Marketing Regulations, comprises members of the New Zealand Poultry Board, decided that, because of failure to agree on steps to meet the new position ’ arising from the Government’s withdrawal of egg and freight subsidies, it could no longer carry out its function of advising the Marketing Department on egg marketing. The decision followed a meeting in Wellington of the New Zealand Poultry Board, which discussed the withdrawal of the subsidies.
