Unity Chambers, 137 Lower Stuart street. SUNDAY. 6.30 p.m. Subject: THE FAITH OF THE FIRST CENTURY KRISTIANS RADICALLY DIFFERENT TO MODERN CHURCH CREEDS. WE SPEND OUR YEARS AS A TALE THAT IS TOLD ... SO TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS THAT WE MAY APPLY OUR HEARTS UNTO WISDOM ” (Psa. xc, 9-12). Experience confirms the teaching of the Scriptures, that this present life is a " shadow ” (Psa. cxiv, 4, Ecc. vi, 12, Job xiv, 1,2), “ a vapour that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away ” (James iv, 14), that the days of man “ are grass ” (Psa. ciii, 15, Isa. xl, 6, 1 Peter i; 24), and that ” man at his best state is altogether vanity ” (Psa. xxxix, 4-6, Ecc. i, 14). In view of the vain and transitory nature of " the life that now is,” the petition " so teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom ” is both reasonable and appropriate. It is clear from the Scriptures that those who do not “ apply their hearts unto wisdom ” and who as a result live and die in ignorance of the will and purpose of God as revealed in the Holy Scriptures WILL REMAIN DEAD FOR EVER—death for them is total extinction —annihilationdestruction (2 Tim. iii, 15, Psa. xlix, 20, Prov. xxi, 16, Psa. lxxxviii, 5, Matt, vii, 13, Luke xiii, 3, Gals, vi, 7-8, E.rh. ii, 12, Eph. iv, 18). On the other hand, those who do “ apply their hearts unto wisdom,’ who “redeem the time” (Eph. v, 16), who "sow to the spirit" (Gals. vi. 8), who " mind the things of the Spirit ” (Roms, viii, 5-6), who “set their affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Cols, .iii, 2), who “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness ’’ (Matt, vi, 33); such when they die will not remain dead for ever—their death is but a temporary " sleep in the dust of the earth,” for when Jesus Christ returns to earth they shall be awakened from their sleep of death to receive everlasting life, i.e., a new immortal, incorruptible, physical body and an inheritance, as Christ’s co-rulers, in the " Kingdom of God ": Christ will establish upon the earth AT HIS COMING (Prov. xiv, 32, Dan. xii, 2. 1 Thess. iv, 16, Rev. xx, 6, 1 Cor. xv, 51-54, Phil, iii, 20-21, Roms, viii, 23, Matt, xxv, 34, Rev. xi, 15, Dan. vii, 27, Rev. v. 9-10, Rev. ii, 26-27). Reader: In our day and generation the only source of true wisdom is the Holy Scriptures, which alone " are able to make wise unto salvation ” (2 Tim. iii, 15). But obviously you cannot learn of the way of salvation revealed in the Scriptures unless you read and study the Scriptures. The earth is filled with the “ doctrines of men.” Still, one thing only is acceptable, as Christ stated: “When the Son of Man cometh shall He find the faith on the earth? ” (Luke xviii. 8). Sincerity and zeal minus “ the Faith ” and "the Truth” will deliver no one (1 John i 6-7). FREE BIBLE TRUTH LITERATURE. Address: P.O Box 857. Dunedin. Questions Invited. W. A. DUNCAN. P Q U A L DELIGHTS. I had no choice to be you, You had no choice to be me; God made us for to live true. Just according to virtue. —A. T. Cameron.
