Step Further Forward In Off-course Betting Scheme
b PA WELLINGTON, May 11. A further stage has now been reached in the negotiations for the introduction of a scheme of off-course betting on the totalisator. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Bodkin, stated today that he had met a sub-committee from the Racing and Trotting Conferences and certain proposals for off-course' betting had been more or less adopted. “ These proposals,” said the Minister, “ are now to be submitted to Cabinet and, if they are approved, a joint meeting of the Racing and Trotting Conferences will be called to consider the full scheme. It will then be released to various clubs for confirmation.”
