HIGH SCHOOLS

Board’s Monthly Meeting Tlie monthly meeting of the Waitaki High School Board of Governors was held yesterday afternoon. The Rev. A. Marshall was in the chair, and there were also present Messrs D. W. Meldrum, C. E. Ridgen, D. S. Bain and M. F. E. Cooney. Mr J. C. Andrews, of Oamaru, had presented to the school 40 volumes of fiction suitable for boys, said the acting rector, Mr P. W. Hargreaves, in his report. Bronze medallions for life-saving had recently been awarded to eight boys at the school. The Junior High School had just celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of its establishment. The policy of those who fought for its attachment to the senior school had been amply justified, the report added. The tender of S. Easton and Co. for supplying meat for the second term, and that of Mr B. Shirkey, for fish, were accepted.
