POWER SAVING EFFECTED
Greater Effort Required Figures made available by the Waitaki Electric Power Board indicate that the consumption of electricity in the board’s area for the first three days this week was 7 per cent, below the consumption for the corresponding days of last week. The allocation for this week, is, however, lower than that of last week and if the present consumption continues an excess of about 5 per cent., on present figures, will be recorded. For the whole of last week a saving of 7 per cent, was effected, compared with the 12J per cent, called for. This week the allocation is 502,635 units and last week it was 568,740 units. To date this week 240,180 units have been consumed compared wtih 258,495 last week. Electricity consumed for the first three days last week amounted to 45.5 per cent, of the allocation, while for the first three days this week the consumption has been about 52J per cent, of the allocation. The complete Sunday shutdown from 1 to 4.30 p.m., as previously advertised, will begin next Sunday.
