OUTLAY FOR DEFENCE
American House Approves Increase NZPA—Copyright WASHINGTON, Rec. 11 p.m. May 9. The House of Representatives approved an extra 383.125.000 dollars for defence today. This acceptance of the recent recommendation by the Defence Secretary, Mr Louis Johnson, was aimed mainly at strengthening air power and anti-submarine forces. The House additions brought the proposed outlay for defence in the year beginning July to 14,294,252,300 dollars.
